Citymesh (formerly nCentric) has won a contract by Jan De Nul to deliver a wireless communication system for the Northwester 2 offshore wind farm in Belgium. This way, Citymesh offers a solution with state-of-the-art wireless communication on four of Jan De Nul's installation vessels during offshore construction on the Northwester 2 windturbines.
The technology Citymesh offers is Mesh technology, combined with private 5G. The installation provides high bandwidth and low latency internet connectivity for mission-critical communications. Interference is no longer a limiting factor during offshore installations.
Under the EPCI contract, Jan De Nul is responsible for the design, construction and installation of foundations, as well as the transport and installation of cables and turbines. The Northwester 2 wind farm will comprise 23 MHI Vestas V164-9.5MW turbines, making it the first wind farm to feature this turbine model.
The Northwester 2 wind turbines is now supplying the Belgian grid with green energy.
