The role of Citymesh
Video contribution
As an essential collaborator of the LIVE-G consortium, we established a dedicated 5G network to transmit video footage recorded by EMG Belgium to the control room. This allows footage, filmed on both fixed and mobile cameras, to be processed without compromising on quality and with minimal latency. By using our private network, we were able to reduce the number of sim cards from 8 to 1 card per mobile camera.
Multicast Video Distribution
Fast, faster, fastest. Once processed by EMG and encoded via Theoplayer’s HESP protocol, Citymesh leveraged the eMBMS technology for multicasting using 5G Broadcasting. This allows us to deliver video content efficiently on any device without compromising on video quality or latency. And reach more viewers with reduced IT resources. The biggest advantage of eMBMS is by using shared resource blocks we optimize the used Radio Network and Core resources.
Lead the way
We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to showcase the power of the LIVE-G project at the hockey club event in Leuven. The demonstration of our end-to-end, 5G-based pipeline for live-streamed video contribution and distribution shows just how much potential there is for delivering high-quality, low-latency video content to audiences around the world. We look forward to continuing our work on the LIVE-G project and pushing the boundaries of what is possible with live video streaming.
