Triple play: unified communications, mobile, internet
To ensure an optimal user experience, we activated employees’ smartphones on the Citymesh network. Then each branch got high-speed Internet, and finally everyone was connected via ConnectMe. Thus, the project became a true triple play solution.

A key benefit of this mobile integration is improved internal communication. Technicians are now instantly accessible via their smartphones, whether they are working on site or working in the garage.
Not an everyday project
“A major technical challenge was the transition from the DECT system to the UCaaS system. This is not a simple plug-and-play step. Accurate network analysis, thoughtful planning, and extensive testing are required to achieve a smooth transition. At Raes Autogroep, testing on coverage, Quality of Service (QoS) and security played an essential role to ensure the same reliability and performance,” says Geert Weterings, Product Manager UCaaS.
The transition to an application-based solution presented a significant change for the 140 employees across five locations. However, thanks to the combination of a user-friendly platform and customized training sessions, the transition went smoothly.
“Once you know the platform, it’s really very simple. Unlike a traditional system, you don’t have to remember complex button combinations,” says Nico Raes. “With ConnectMe, everything is a lot more obvious.”

Citymesh’s Four Key Optimizations
In addition to the implementation of the UCaaS solution, Citymesh implemented several important optimizations to further streamline communications. Thanks to these optimizations, RAES Autogroep now has a flexible, efficient and future-proof communication platform.
1. DECT-replacement
Outdated DECT phones gave way to smartphones with the ConnectMe app. Technicians also received a Citymesh SIM card, which allows them to stay connected at all times.
2. Softphone solution
All employees were given access to a softphone on their PCs, largely eliminating the need for physical phones. Only one backup device was retained per location.
3. Smarter call routing
Citymesh analyzed and optimized the telephone tree structure and implemented a Text-to-Speech module. This allows RAES Autogroep to easily make changes themselves, for example in case of closing days or under exceptional circumstances.
4. Comprehensive management via SMP
With the Service Management Portal (SMP), RAES Autogroep now independently manages the entire platform, including user management and call flow adjustments. Four employees were specially trained for this purpose.
